WU Physician & Scientist Discusses Increased Pandemic Risk From Global Warming

Dr. Ken Remy, research scientist and doctor at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis,  received international attention for his COVID – 19 video

In late November as the number of patients dying from Covid- 19 was on a sharp rise in St. Louis hospitals,  Dr. Remy made a video from a patient’s perspective of a doctor performing intubation. Remy was issuing a strong message, partly as a personal appeal that people needed to wear masks and social distance. He was tired of watching patients die and wanted people to take basic measures to protect themselves.

The appeal captured international attention and made headlines around the globe, including the United States, Poland, Russia, United Kingdom.

Soon after releasing the video, Remy spoke with Steve Taylor, Press Secretary of Global Justice Ecology Project about the link between global warming and a greater risk for pandemics.
