September 2023 Publication from the Forest Peoples Programme: Carbon Markets, Forests and Rights: An introductory Series for Indigenous Peoples and Communities

Together with the Global Justice Clinic of NYU, The Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) has developed a series of introductory materials for indigenous peoples and communities on carbon markets, forests and rights. As an increasing amount of pulp & paper and biomass companies enter the carbon market, indigenous and forest peoples are experience a rush of interest in their lands and territories from carbon market actors. These materials were written to assist communities in  identifying the questions they need to ask and consider to make their own self-determined decisions about carbon markets. FPP plans to translate the materials into French and Spanish. The explainers can be found on the FPP website.
