Earth Minute Calls for Emergency Gulf Oil Spill Actions This Friday 5/14/10

On the heels of plans by Obama and the fossil fuels industry to expand oil drilling both offshore and in the arctic, comes the massive gulf oil spill–one of the worst ecological and social disasters of our time.
We’ve seen the response by government and industry. They mobilize their spin doctors and attorneys to maximize damage control in the wake of their failed attempts to control the actual damage of the oil spill.
But how will the rest of us respond? Rising Tide North America is calling for national emergency actions this Friday, May 14th. They state, “the gulf oil disaster, an “accident” borne of industrial negligence and corporate greed and worsened by government corruption and industry infighting-has gone beyond crisis. This is catastrophe.”
They are calling for actions directed at BP, Halliburton or anyone who continues to support the expansion of offshore oil drilling in the face of the now undeniable evidence of its catastrophic impacts.
