WATCH: Assaulted by White Supremacists in C’Ville, Deandre Harris Returns to Scene of Crime

Nation of Change released this interview with Deandre Harris, a 20-year-old black man who was beaten by white supremacists in Charlottesville on Aug. 13. Photo and video footage of five white men assaulting Harris has been circulated on social media and television since the incident.

Harris suffered a broken wrist and a chipped tooth, and had eight staples in his scalp to close a head wound. No arrests have been made in the incident.

“Despite widespread internet video footage of the beating,” the New York Daily News reported, “not a single suspect was in custody three days after the bloody assault.”

Reports from the incident also indicate that law enforcement witnessed Mr. Harris’ beating without intervening.

ProPublica reported: “The police did little to stop the bloodshed. Several times, a group of assault-rifle-toting militia members from New York State, wearing body armor and desert camo, played a more active role in breaking up fights.”

New York Post writer Shaun King has lead a social media campaign to identify the white supremacists who assaulted Mr. Harris and bring them to justice. You can follow Shaun King on Facebook here.
