Celebrating our 20th Anniversary

NOTE: this video was modified to remove the interviews of some of the individuals featured in the film who expressed deep concern about political persecution by the Chilean state. Read our sign on letter regarding this ongoing persecution of the Mapuche in Chile over their land recovery efforts at the link below.

In October 2024, an international team from Global Justice Ecology Project traveled to Wallmapu (Chile) to interview Indigenous Mapuche community leaders, political prisoners and others about their long struggle for autonomy and sovereignty, and document their stories in their own words. This 18 minute film captures these interviews of Mapuche people describing their effort to recover their ancestral lands, traditional culture, food sovereignty, spirituality and language. They also discuss the repression they are facing from the government, including many Mapuche youth imprisoned, as well as the threats and impacts from extractive industries in their ancestral land, which they call Wallmapu.

English and Spanish subtitles.
