Global Justice Ecology Project joins the global strike call for a ceasefire in Gaza amidst the growing humanitarian catastrophe that has killed and will continue to kill thousands of children – by bombs, guns, dehydration, disease and starvation.
On 26 October, GJEP released the following statement:
Global Justice Ecology Project joins the growing global demand for a Ceasefire between Hamas and the Israeli government. The indiscriminate targeting and killing of civilians must end now.

The attack on Gaza being carried out by Israel following the attack and murder of Israeli citizens by Hamas on October 7th is targeting innocent Palestinians. Israel’s retaliation is taking a severe and unjustifiable human toll.
Men, women and children in Gaza are being collectively punished for the actions of Hamas. Residents of Gaza were warned by the government of Israel to leave the north of the country or be considered potential terrorists, yet many of the bombs directed at Gaza are falling on the South of the country, onto refugee camps and other civilian targets.
There is no excuse for the indiscriminate murder of innocent civilians. This can solve nothing. Doctors and journalists alike must be allowed to do their critically important jobs without fear they will be killed.
With the “total blockade” of Gaza’s borders and no way to leave, the people there– approximately one million of whom are children–are being deprived of food, water, medicine and fuel. Hospitals are becoming morgues as they run out of fuel for generators. All five wastewater treatment plants and two of the three desalination plants have stopped working. The last remaining desalination plant is running at less than 7% of capacity.
This blockade must be ended to allow the many hundreds of trucks filled with food, water and medicine to enter. The few trucks of aid that have been allowed to enter, heralded by the Biden Administration, pales in comparison to what is needed for humanitarian relief. Many Palestinian children who have no complicity whatsoever in a conflict between Hamas and Israel face almost certain death if real assistance is not given.
Raz Segal, a professor of Holocaust and genocide studies, has called it a “textbook case of genocide unfolding in front of our eyes.”
Ceasefire, end the bombings and lift the blockade.
