LISTEN: Activist, Hip Hop Artist Alas on Racial Discrimination in Medical Industry

This week’s Earth Watch guest on the Sojourner Truth Show was hip hop artist and activist Alas. Alas was involved with supporting migrant communities during the wildfires in California. Here’s Alas’ bio from her website, alasmusika.com:

ALAS makes music that braids her reality as an undocumented Xicana mujer subsisting on stolen land with the theories of rebellious decolonization. Her storytelling resounds with those on the warpath to guard the sacred, with those who fully embrace their responsibility to defend land and protect water. She consistently collaborates on trainings to build necessary skills for the courageous self-defense of oppressed peoples, with the goal of indigenous reclamation of ancestral territories always in mind.
Alas is a savage lyricist, frontline medic, youth worker, and community organizer.

The Sojourner Truth Radio Show airs every week on KPFK-FM in Los Angeles and around the world online.
