2005

  • International meeting against tree plantations and GE Trees co-sponsored by GJEP, World Rainforest Movement and FASE (Vitoria) – PHOTOS, DECLARATION
  • Vitoria Declaration issued
  • Field trip travels north in Espirito Santo to Guarani/Tupinikim village and MST camp that were taking land back from eucalyptus plantations, stops at Aracruz Cellulose mill (the same mill we visited in ES in May 2023 that is now Suzano)

2006

  • UN Convention on Biological Diversity protests against Terminator Technology and strategy meeting against GE trees (Curitiba) – PHOTOS
  • MST/LVC march against Terminator technology
  • Anne and Ricarda testify against GE trees at the CBD plenary

2007

  • GJEP takes part in MST/GFC seminar against tree plantations and GE trees at MST school in Sao Paulo –PHOTOS
  • Anne attends field trip to visit MST Settlement –PHOTOS

2010

  • GJEP takes part in World Social Movement in Belém, at the mouth of the Amazon

2011

  • IUFRO Tree Biotechnology Conference in D’Arraial D’Ajuda (Bahia)
  • Anne attends a field trip to a Veracel eucalyptus plantation and documents the entire life cycle of a eucalyptus plantation, from “clonal garden” to plantation to pulp mill. (photo essay can be found on Climate Connections blog)

2012

  • GJEP takes part in Rio+20 events in Rio
  • Joint press release issued with World Rainforest Movement and others

2014

  • GJEP, WRM and Foro Carajas hold a series of rural community seminars on the problem of GE trees and plantations in Maranhão, where Suzano is expanding eucalyptus plantations into the cerrado and communities are resisting– PHOTOS

2015

  • International Women’s Day action by MST women destroys a FuturaGene greenhouse growing GE eucalyptus trees – one million clones destroyed (Bahia?)
  • La Via Campesina takes over the CTNBio meeting where they were going to approve the Suzano GE tree – the meeting is postponed until April. The trees are ultimately legalized, but never planted.

2019

  • GJEP participates in a national Brazil meeting on GE trees organized by WRM and Friends of the Earth Brazil – PHOTOS, VIDEO of Anne speaking about GE trees
