Earth Minute: Pride Month 2021

June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month, marked by the annviersary of the 1969 Stonewall riot led by Black and Latinx trans and gender non-confirming individuals against police brutality.

It’s also a time to reflect on the intersections between the fight for queer liberation and the fight for racial justice, Indigenous sovereignty, disability justice, and climate justice.

According to the organization Earthjustice, “Any vision for environmental justice must address the needs of LGBTQIA+ people, because the upheavals of climate change will amplify the ways that prejudice already makes shelter, income, and safety more precarious.”

In order to advocate for the future of our planet, we must advocate for each other by acknowledging that these struggles against oppression are inseperable from each other.

For the Earth Minute and the Sojourner Truth Show this is Theresa Church from Global Justice Ecology Project
