Earth Minute: 2020 Elections

The future of our health, the environment, and our country has been placed into the hands of Joe Biden, who is set to become the 46th president of the United States, alongside the first woman, and woman of color, vice president-elect Kamala Harris.

After 4 years of an administration who has denied the science around climate change, rolled back nearly 100 environmental regulations and committed mass human and civil rights violations, this is not only a “time to heal in America,” but a time to address the damage that has been done to our Earth and our communities.

Grassroots organizations all over the world are demanding the Biden administration to undo all the dangerous government actions from the past four years and work towards a long-lasting future.

Indigenous Environmental Network has stated, “We demand climate justice, we demand a just transition, we demand an economic just recovery driven by environmental justice and ethics, we demand our sovereign rights be respected and strengthened.”

The work to win the changes that we need to achieve social justice and address climate change is not over, it is only just beginning.

For the Earth Minute and the Sojourner Truth Show, this is Theresa Church from Global Justice Ecology Project.
