About the Archive Photo of the Week
Each week, as hundreds of photographs from Orin Langelle’s five-decade archive are digitized, one image is rediscovered, selected, and brought back into public view.
These photographs trace land defense, struggles for sovereignty, environmental and economic justice, and resistance by Indigenous peoples, peasant movements, workers, communities, and others confronting dispossession, exploitation and repression. More broadly, they ask how power is used against people, communities, the land, and other living beings.
Across six continents, the photos capture moments of struggle, courage, and community that history and mainstream media too often allow to disappear.
